In order for S.Korea’s special forces units to keep their skills sharp and be ready for anything that might occur they have been conducting field training aimed at rescuing pilots from enemy territory. A HH-60 NightHawk helicopter is used from which the special forces land in enemy territory and move to a location sent by an Air Force pilot in distress. There are also troops that are training in the Combat Search and Rescue. These troops must follow hand signals to adjust their formation depending on the terrain. They search even throughout the night and after they locate the pilots and check their condition they strap him onto a stretcher that is carried to the extraction post while some members of the forces provide cover in case of an attack. A helicopter picks up the team and the injured pilot at the extraction post and takes them to safety.
