After a deal to establish a ‘safe-zone’ in north-eastern Syria and to carry out joint border patrols, as well as giving Kurdish forces 150 hours to withdraw from the zone was struck between Russia and Turkey, the Russian military police began patrols in Manbij, Syria. Russian military vehicles were shown patrolling the streets of the north-eastern Syrian town of Manbij, in Aleppo province in recent footage. This move, ‘Operation Peace Spring’ as Turkey refers to it, began on October 9 days after the White House announced a withdrawal of US troops from the area.
