Four submarine ballistic missiles were launched by the US Navy
Posted by Arms Control Center in INTERNATIONAL SECURITY, MISSILES, NUCLEAR WEAPONS, tags: ballistic missiles, Russia, tactical nuclear weapon, USAThe unarmed Trident II nuclear missiles were launched by the US Navy Ohio class ballistic missile submarine USS Nebraska. The test was of great importance because it consisted of four missile tests instead of the usual one or two, probably to make sure that their operating forces remain combat ready. The W76-2 warheads are the kind of tactical nuclear weapons that could counter Russia as it was mentioned by the US President Donald Trump’s administration in last year’s Nuclear Posture Review.
