Several workers of nongovernmental humanitarian groups and relief organizations connected to the UN were reportedly targeted by hackers. The reason behind these attacks was a campaign that began earlier this year with the purpose of stealing login credentials. Apparently officials following North Korea issues at UN World Food Program, UNICEF, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies were targeted. The way the hackers managed to employ their scheme was by hooking workers into phishing sites that mirror the log-in pages of legitimate organizations and the information is sent to a shadowy group called the “Pyong Yang international community”.
